PRIVATE TOURS

Saltwick Bay is one of the most spectacular locations on the Yorkshire Coast. With consistent fossils finds, dinosaur footprints, fossil plants and rugged scenery, it is a very special site. The best way to understand the geoheritage of the site is with a qualified scientist guide. Itineraries from Saltwick include the circular walk to Whitby East pier, which is possible at only the lowest tides of the month, or the south east route towards Whitby High and Hawsker. Both offer a great outdoor classroom for understanding The early and middle Jurassic period, and discovering fossils from marine and terrestrial environments.

Private tours are available throughout the year, but best suited on spring tides. Itineraries are arranged to suit tides, adventure level, age and ability of the hiring party.  Our guides consider the unique safety factors required for safe and responsible collecting at this location.

Summer availability is now extremely limited. Book Autumn dates now to avoid disappointment

Due to monthly tidal variations, it is not always possible to embark on fossil hunts at Saltwick Bay.

Private tours costs are

1-6 people – 3-4 hour itinerary = Cost £175

7-11 people  – 3-4 hour itinerary = Cost £250

12-16 people  – 3-4 hour itinerary = Cost £350

(Additional hours available at an additional cost of £30 per hours)
