PRIVATE TOURS

Staithes is a stunning location where you can walk through a unique heritage landscape of Iron, Alum and Jet mining and discover a huge array of fossils from the lower Jurassic period. This location gives access to a mixture of geological time periods, therefore opening up options of fossil discoveries. It is particularly well suited to Pliensbachian aged fossils of the Cleveland Ironstone.

Our Earth Scientist guides curate individually designed tours that follow best practice in accessing sites for responsible collecting suited to the SSSI status of the location. Private tours consider the unique safety factors of Staithes and are arranged to suit tides, adventure level, age and ability of the hiring party.

Short trips of 2-3 hours take in Staithes to Jet Wyke, whilst 3-4hr trips can cover the full Staithes to Port Mulgrave stretch.

Summer, school break and weekend availability is extremely limited. Please book early for 2026 dates. Due to monthly tidal variations, it is not always possible to embark on fossil hunts in Staithes.
