Join The Rock Showman for a family focussed fossil safari on Britain’s Best Beach!

SUITABILITY RATING – Ideal for families, beginners, younger children and for adults with minor mobility issues. The itinerary has level access onto the beach, with a 25 minute walk to the furthest hunting grounds.

START LOCATION – Benches below entrance to “Tides Cafe” Runswick Bay, TS13 5HT

PARKING – Runswick Car Park, Bank Bottom Hill, TS13 5HT is at the bottom of the village near the start position. In Summer and on busy weekends this is regularly full, with the nearest parking at the top of the village. Allow 20 mins to park car and get to the start location. Minimum 3 hour parking recommended.

Age range: Over 4

This is a 2-hour tour starting from the Cafe near the Beach and heading South East towards Kettleness. Your guide Steve will take you on a journey back through ice ages towards the Jurassic and introduce the fossils that can be found from Earth’s distant past at this classic location. Ammonites, Belemnites, Whitby Jet, Marine Reptiles bones and Ice Age fossils have all been found on this itinerary and your guide will give the story of these creatures and the environments in which they lived.

The tour leaves from the benches at the advertised start time so please come about 15 minutes before, giving enough time to use public loos located here.
