The stunning port villages of Staithes is a great location for exploring the lower Jurassic rocks of The Yorkshire Coast. This 3 hour tour ventures over rock platforms that are full of fossilised ocean creatures from 190 million years ago. Our tours coincide with ideal tides for safe exploration of oftentimes unaccessible locations

Starting from outside the Public WCs at bottom of the picturesque seaside village of Staithes, North Yorkshire. The itinerary walks through industrial era Iron ore mine into the fam out Jet Wyke, where lovely pieces of Jet can be found, along with fossil Ammonites, Belemnites, Scallops, Sea Shells and occasional marine reptiles.

A fascinating 3 hour tour that is bound to please all ages groups.

SUITABILITY RATING – This itinerary includes wet rock platforms, slippery patches, stairs and several ledges that less mobile adults may struggle to navigate. Family groups welcome – Not suitable for children under 6 years old or for adults with mobility issues.

START LOCATIONBy The Rock, Seaton Garth/Harbour Top, Opposite the public loos.

PARKING – A car park is available at the top of the village near the business centre at TS13 5BB. Allow 20 minutes to park and walk down on a busy day

Level: Intermediate, Beginner

Please wear suitable footwear for wet, slippery, uneven terrain (ideally welly boots or hiking boots) and all weather clothing. Bring water, lunch or a snack as the itinerary is well away from amenities
